Preparation of documentation
Before making traditional Buddhist incense, the necessary materials must be prepared first. The information of traditional Buddhist incense generally includes four parts: incense, wood powder, binder, and additional materials.
Erhe Material
Nowadays, mixers are commonly used to blend materials.
The specific method is to put the ground fragrant herbs, wood powder, elm bark powder, etc. into the mixer, add appropriate water, and the ratio of water to material should be determined according to the characteristics of the data, generally 1:1. It can also be adjusted appropriately according to the season and climate. When the climate is monotonous, more should be added. It should also be noted that the temperature of water is generally 45 degrees Celsius, as too cold is not conducive to mixing the ingredients, and too hot can harm the fragrance. When adding water, the amount of water should be calculated and added in one go as much as possible. If water is added to the mixing center again, it will affect the durability and smoothness of the fragrance. After the water and ingredients are mixed, they can be preliminarily mixed. The mixing time is generally 20 minutes. If there is a lack of mixing, the material will be uneven, which not only affects the quality of the aroma, but also causes the aroma to break due to guessed gaps. Excessive mixing can cause the ingredients to become too scattered, which can affect the quality of the fragrance.
Three molding
Put the mixed material into the compactor and compact it into blocks of a size suitable for placement in the kneading machine's hopper. The pressure block should be uniform and dense, so that there are no bubbles in the material block.
After the material block is pressed, the next step is to produce the strip. Nowadays, kneading machines are generally used as the equipment for making strips. The kneading machine is mainly composed of transmission, kneading head, material trough, and mold. Molds are generally made of steel plates, which have many small holes of different diameters. There are many standards for small holes, with some being less than 1 millimeter thin and others being tens of millimeters thick. According to the thickness of the fragrance to be produced, the equipment should have corresponding standard molds.
Put the material block into the material trough, and the material is extruded from the hole of the mold, turning it into a slender fragrance stick. The step of picking incense sticks with flattened incense sticks is called "picking incense".
The incense sticks attached to the incense sticks are usually irregular, uneven in length, and may also have broken sticks.
